RegioStars Awards

Thecontext

EURegionsWeek (previously known as ‘Open Days’) is one of the largest annual events in Brussels. In 2017, for its sixth consecutive year, ICF Mostra coordinated one of the Week’s highlights: the RegioStars Awards Ceremony. The annual awards competition, organised by the Directorate-General for Regional and Urban Policy, recognises the most original and inspiring EU-funded projects in urban and regional development.

This year’s ceremony was a milestone, marking the 10th anniversary of the RegioStars Awards. Relive the magic of the 2017 ceremony, and the ground-breaking winning projects, in the video above!

Thechallenge

Since 2012, ICF Mostra has successfully helped coordinate the RegioStars Awards competition and ceremony. This year, we rose to the occasion to oversee more than 50 event partners, 150 staff members, multiple TV crews and journalists. The SQUARE Meeting Centre, one of the largest venues in Brussels, proved to be the perfect platform to welcome the 1,200 attendees and showcase the award winners.

Ourapproach

ICF Mostra took full ownership of event planning, from revamping and promoting the award’s visual identity to following up with contestants and liaising with the 24 finalists…all of which culminated with the on-site management of the soirée on 10 October. Complementing the ceremony itself, ICF Mostra created a user-friendly web portal to enable European citizens to vote for their favourite project as ‘the Public Choice Award’. On the day of the ceremony, winners took the stage to receive trophies and be interviewed.

ICF Mostra’s press and social media teams also implemented a fool-proof media relations strategy to further publicise the RegioStars winners among stakeholders and through regional media channels. Live webstreaming via the online portal and the EURegionsWeek App, allowed the event to be shared with the wider population, fostering engagement beyond Brussels to all European regions.
