Youth @ Work is an awareness-raising campaign aiming to build contacts between young people and small businesses (SMEs). Launched at the European job fair in Budapest, Hungary in April 2011, Mostra has since helped the Youth @ Work programme make its mark at a series of events held throughout Europe.
Youth @ Work helps young jobseekers find jobs in SMEs and gain experience and skills; raises awareness among SMEs about the potential benefits of recruiting inventive, dynamic young people; and makes young people aware of the tools that can help them become self employed or set up their own business.
Stops on the tour so far in 2011 have included Budapest and Székesfehérvár (Hungary), Vilnius (Lithuania), Brussels (Belgium) – as part of the European Job Day event, Eindhoven and Maastricht (Netherlands), Olsztyn (Poland), Turin (Italy), Ljubljana (Slovenia), Aveiro (Portugal), Limassol (Cyprus), Trencin (Slovakia), Malmö (Sweden), Valetta (Malta), Manchester (UK), and Riga (Latvia). An upcoming event is set to take place on 24 November in Arad (Romania), with further upcoming training and information sessions set for 2012.
Events have featured press conferences, training sessions for thousands of young jobseekers – including information on how to prepare a business plan, roundtables and panel discussions, and motivational presentations from partner organisations and business leaders.
As well as organisational activities on the ground, Mostra led a promotional campaign prior to all events, including adverts in print media, online and radio awareness-raising activities, and the elaboration of success stories and key messages.
