The European Commission's Sustainable Urban Mobility (SUM) campaign – promoting the advantages of combining different modes of transportation – has launched this week. Under the slogan ‘Do the Right Mix’, this three-year campaign run by Mostra, Eurocities and Polis will support Europe’s sustainable urban mobility campaigners in promoting behavioural change.
The campaign includes initiatives such as an award for European cities based on their sustainable urban mobility plans, as well as national campaigns with local stakeholders in six priority countries (Italy, Greece, Latvia, Hungary, Romania, and the UK). And through the SUM campaign fund, groups of individuals and non-commercial entities (schools, NGOs, public administrations, etc.) are now eligible to apply for up to EUR 7 000 in financial support from the European Commission with just a few clicks on the campaign website.
The SUM campaign is linked to the European Mobility Week, which runs from 16 to 22 September 2012 and culminates in the ‘In Town Without My Car!’ day. The campaign is managed by the EU Commission Directorate-General for Mobility and Transport and funded through the Intelligent Energy Europe programme.
