April 20-21 saw EUROPEANMOBILITYWEEK best practice workshops and the 2015 award ceremony take place in Brussels. ICF Mostra and consortium partners were keen to be involved by supporting the European Commission’s Directorate-General for Mobility and Transport (DG MOVE) with honouring sustainable urban mobility pioneers.
A key highlight of the assembly in Brussels was a dual award ceremony held for both the ‘EUROPEANMOBILITYWEEK (EMW) Award 2015’ and the ‘4th Sustainable Urban Mobility Plan (SUMP) Award’ that took place in the Theatre du Vaudeville in Brussels’ renowned Galerie de la Reine on the evening of 20 April. On hand were Director-General Henrik Hololei, Responsible for Transport, and Commissioner Karmenu Vella, Responsible for Environment, who both gave welcome speeches and presented Murcia, Spain and Malmö, Sweden with their respective award. During the ceremony, video presentations of the 2015 finalists, as well as a look back at last year’s winner, Östersund, Sweden, delighted the audience.
ICF Mostra and our consortium partners Eurocities, ICLEI, Polis and REC are in charge of the coordination of the EUROPEANMOBILITYWEEK and the organisation of both awards. For 2015-16-17, ICF Mostra is tasked with developing the visual identity of the campaign adapted to each year’s theme, including coming up with guidelines on how local organisers can promote and register their events and activities related to urban mobility.
For four years now, ICF Mostra has also produced short video clips of the finalists (SUMP finalists; EMW finalists), together with an extended promotional video for the winners. These videos are as prizes presented to each city for their hard work and can be used as publicity material by the cities. This year, ICF Mostra was additionally responsible for the award design and the logistics of both the workshops and award ceremony, including carrying out press relations around the events.
During the two days more than 100 national and local coordinators of EUROPEANMOBILITYWEEK and stakeholders attended the workshops where topics such as smart investments and successful mobility initiatives were discussed.
TV Brussels & TV Murcia were also present during the Awards Ceremony, so make sure to tune in and view the TV coverage!
