Aims:

To illustrate the start of the European policy's operational phase. Following the resumption of the law enforcement mission in Bosnia-Herzegovina, the peace-keeping mission in Macedonia and the «Artemis» mission in Bunia in the north of Congo, the Council of the European Union wanted to produce a feature showing the achievements of the ESDP, as well as the challenges to be faced in the future.

Solutions:

We produced a film that shows images from the field, with soldiers operating under the European flag, mixed with interviews with leading personalities who played a role in the gradual construction of the security and defence policy.

We suggested that the film should be distributed to interested broadcasters before the Thessaloniki EU Summit which marked the end of the Greek presidency (June 2003), to highlight and illustrate the summit speech on this topic by the High Representative Javier Solana. This VNR was requested by several dozen European television channels.

At the same time, we created a visual identity for the ESDP and produced a brochure and leaflet («The European Union, exporter of peace and security»), explaining the stakeholders, structures, resources and actions of the ESDP.
