Aims:
To assist ECHO and the European Parliament with the organisation and media coverage of «Youth Solid@rity Day».

The conference entitled «Youth Solid@rity Day» was held on 20th January 2004 in the European Parliament in Brussels, and was attended by 600 young people between the ages of 16 and 17 from the 15 Member-States of the EU. The aim of the conference was to raise awareness among young people about the importance of the European humanitarian effort and of the values that it conveys.

Solutions:

Before the event, Mostra had worked with a market research agency to produce a draft resolution on humanitarian aid, based on discussion panels and individual interviews with a sample of young people from all backgrounds. Just like real MEPs, the participants in the conference were given the opportunity to debate and vote on this resolution, the draft of which they had received before travelling to Belgium.

Mostra produced all the promotional materials for the event (visual identity, document folders, work kits, posters, programme, backdrops, signs, etc.), as well as an exhibition providing an overview of the activities of ECHO, with a series of striking photos mounted on 2mx1m and 2mx7m banners. In parallel, Mostra was also in charge of the coordination of all logistical services required for this kind of event.

As part of this project, Mostra's «Media Relations» team identified and invited fifteen television journalists who wished to cover the event, and working with the European Parliament media units, coordinated the television facilities the reporters needed on the spot.

Mostra also produced a VNR on Youth Solid@rity Day. This ten-minute video report, which was offered to all European television channels, reviewed the events of the day and will serve as a promo for subsequent editions of this event.

Finally, we were also responsible for the Proceedings of the Conference and the translation into the Union's 11 official languages.
