Media Relations

Mostra has gained a high reputation for effective relations with the press and electronic media. Mostra's actions in this field cover a wide range, from enhancing audiovisual coverage of our clients' activities, to arranging media coverage of events and organising press briefings.

In the course of the various assignments we have conducted, we have acquired extensive experience in relations with all types of media (audiovisual, printed, online) on an international scale. Our data base, which is continually updated, counts more than 5,000 contacts in Europe and beyond, arranged according to country, media type, areas of specialisation, etc.

In the course of assignments carried out on behalf of the European institutions over the past ten years or so, we have established strong relationships with all the leading European broadcasters. Each year, the Mostra media relations team offers to specific producers and correspondents more than forty Video News Releases, journalistic reports, and background video-packs on a wide variety of European issues.

Analysis shows that this service considerably increases the television coverage of the projects and actions concerned ; our images are shown hundreds of times every year on all European (and non-EU) television channels, whether it be in news broadcasts (including 24-hour news channels) or in specialised programmes (on European affairs, the environment, culture, economic issues, etc.).

A few examples of our achievements in this area:

Audiovisual coverage of events

«Green Week 2003» (European Commission - Environment DG, 2003) . Mostra invited a selected group of television journalists to «Green Week», the annual environment fair and conference held in Brussels . To encourage wide television coverage of the event, we provided the broadcasters with on-site cameracrews and tapes of relevant background images, as well as editing and satellite-transmission facilities via the EbS network of the European Commission. Mostra also provided special daily coverage of Green Week for the pan-European news channel Euronews.

Assistance to TV journalists

Mostra has established a specialist unit to help the European audiovisual media provide better coverage if its client's activities. It provides timely information and story alerts, and distributes VNRs (video reports on a European issue based on real-life stories). It also operates a special website, www.tvlink.org , tailor-made for professionals in the broadcasting community. This web site enables them to view (video streaming) the various VNRs on offer, accompanied by additional relevant information (background information, useful contacts, etc.).

Relations with the ACP Press

Regional Information Meetings (COLEACP, 2003). Within the framework of the Pesticides Initiative Programme, Mostra organised three information meetings, (in Senegal for West Africa, Kenya for East Africa, and Ghana), aimed at the horticultural sector of this group of ACP countries. One of the aims of this assignment was to stimulate interest in this subject among the main media outlets of the countries involved, to ensure information was disseminated widely in the target areas.

Media briefings

In 2003 and 2004, Mostra offered support to the European Economic and Social Committee, particularly through arranging contacts with European journalists, including those from newspapers in various Member-States, from pan-European media, and from the leading press agencies.
